According to a recent AP article, the Food and Drug Administration announced Friday that agency officials “found bacteria and fungus in drug vials from a Tennessee specialty pharmacy that recalled all of its injectable medicines” in May, after “seven patients in North Carolina and Illinois,” who received the compounder’s methylprednisolone acetate steroid injections, “reported skin abscesses.”
The nationwide fungal meningitis epedimic made headlines last year after alleged negligence at a Massachusetts compounding pharmacy led to tainted steroid painkillers that may have been administed to more than 13,000 patients. Those injured or killed because of this tragic event continue to be reported as the FDA proceeds with its investigation.
Dozier Miller Law Group is currently representing victims of the fungal meningitis outbreak and would welcome the opportunity to help others who may have been injured or lost loved ones from this national epidemic.
